Trinity Health Accepts James C. Acheson Foundation Challenge For Heart Care

Port Huron, MI - Partners at Heart, a partnership between Mercy and Port Huron hospitals, is pleased to announce that Trinity Health has accepted the James C. Acheson Foundation Challenge for Heart Care with a contribution of $400,000. Mercy Hospital is a Ministry Organization of the Novi, MI based Trinity Health.

Partners at Heart was awarded $650,000 by the James C. Acheson Foundation in the form of a matching grant. This grant will fund imaging equipment and the creation of a dedicated Partners at Heart Electrophysiology Lab. The Acheson Foundation's intent with the matching grant was to encourage, or challenge, donors such as Trinity Health to support this expanding service in cardiac care for patients across the Thumb Region. When the match is complete, $1.3 million will be available for the Electrophysiology Program, which specializes in the management of cardiac arrhythmias and arrhythmia-related problems.

Trinity Health, the fourth largest Catholic health system in the United States, has a significant presence in Michigan. Across the state, 12 acute care hospitals are Ministry Organizations of Trinity Health, providing medical care and services to one out of ten Michigan hospital patients.

Partners at Heart has been providing comprehensive cardiac care to Blue Water Area patients since 1993. Mortality and stroke rates for Partners at Heart surgical patients are better than regional and national rates, providing area residents with access to high-quality cardiac care without leaving the community.
